John and Catherine MacDonald came from Glenelg, Knoydart, Inverness, Scotland with nine children sometime between 1852 and 1855. Family lore tells a story of them coming to the home of a relative,
Sir John A. MacDonald at Kingston. Several our John`s daughters remained behind to help care for the
gravely ill Mrs. John A. MacDonald. The family continued on, coming to Goderich on Lake Huron, where they had a 10th child before making the trek northward into Bruce County and settling in Culross
Township. The daughters later joined their family in Bruce County. This family`s religion was Roman Catholic. This webmaster`s great, great grandmother Catherine `Kitty` was the child of the oldest daughter Christina who was not married. Kitty was raised by her grandparents as her mother married and moved away to the US. Years later Christina returned to live in this area. Kitty
who was raised RC, married into a very Presbyterian family. One of her children became a Presbyterian
missionary at Jhansi, India. The MacDonald family descendants abound in large numbers.....scattered throughout North America.
